Good afternoon excelent people! I just want to share about this complex sentence's materials which I got from the learning syntax in my college. lets get it!

Complex Sentence

What is sentence?

Sentence is a group of words that you use to communicate your ideas in writing or in speech

A sentence is a group of words expressing a complete thought. In a sentence, there are consist two main parts: subject and predicate.

Subject is the word or words that names the person, thing, or place that a sentence is about. It is usually a noun or pronoun.

Predicate makes a statement about the subject. It consists of a verb and its modifiers or complements. The verb expresses action or a state of being.

1. when we speak, we often say things like

All right! Good!

These are complete units of meaning, but they are not real sentences

2. A simple sentence is a complete which contains a subject and a verb followed by other words which make up the meaning

The bird flew away                          a sentence

The man in the street               not a sentence

3. The subject may be hidden

Open the door, really means YOU open the door.

All simple sentences must contain at least one subject and one predicate, or verb. However sometimes, the subject, the predicate, or both may be compound.

The sentences below are all simple sentences even tough they have compound parts:

Ø  compound subject : Apes and monkeys are primates.

Ø  compound predicates: scientists observe and study wildlife.

Ø  compound subject and compound predicate : Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey observed and studied primates in the wild.

           

Ø  A complete sentence has a subject and verb and relate a complete of thought. Example: “He enjoys his meal”

Ø  When we have to use an object after some verbs; e.g. contain, bring, hit, enjoy. We call the verbs as transitive verbs. Example: “He brings some foods”

Ø  Some verbs never take an object; e.g. arrive, come, go, sleep. We call these intransitive verbs.             

Ø  Example: “The baby is sleep”

Ø  Some verbs can be used transitively and intransitively; e.g. begin, drop, hurt, open, win, etc. Example:

“The team won the game”. (Transitive)

or

“The team won”. (Intransitive)

Ø  Warning: Do not begin a sentence with a subordinate conjunction because it will make it an incomplete meaning. Example:

“Because you are pilot”.

Complex sentence   are used to express complex ideas by:

Showing how ideas and/or events are related to each other

Providing extra information about certain words or phrases.

A  Complex sentence consists of a main clause and one or more subordinate clauses.

Simple sentence

One clause simple:

My friend invited me to a party. i dont want to go.

Compound sentence main clauses linked by coordinating conjunctions compound:

My friend invited me to a party, but I don’t want to go.

Complex sentence:

Main clause + one or

More subordinate clauses complex:

Although my friend invited me to a party, I don't want to go.
